3.5 Years – 5 Years

Mary York – Lead Teacher

The Owls classroom, which serves children ages 3.5 to 5 years of age, is focused on preparing each child to enter Pre-K or Kindergarten. Children at this age learn best by doing, and participating in a variety of activities that balance active and quiet play. By utilizing structured small and large group activities within the classroom, each child is given the freedom to explore based on their individual interests as they engage in various learning centers set up around the room. Subjects such as science, art, and music make up some of these centers, providing the opportunity to learn to share and play with others, build independence and confidence, and acquire the skills needed for Kindergarten.

Each week the children are introduced to a new theme that incorporates a variety of hands-on learning activities to keep them engaged and eager to learn. When your child enters the Owls classroom, our teachers will focus on areas of learning that are essential to Kindergarten success, such as learning the letters of the alphabet and their sounds, and learning how to not only recognize, but also write their own names. The children work on their math skills by counting to 20 and through activities that incorporate shapes and sorting.

A healthy breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack are served each day. Parents are asked to supply the teacher with a change of clothes for their child.
